By Friso The Hague

By Friso is a beautiful boutique hotel and short-stay accommodation in The Hague, The Netherlands. The hotel is housed in a stunning building, featuring a lovely garden and gorgeous rooms that evoke a sense of quiet luxury. The look and feel of Hotel By Friso in The Hague is chic, cool, and stylish yet relaxed. We had a wonderful weekend.

Hotel By Friso is located near Westbroekpark in Scheveningen. The location is excellent: both The Hague city center and Scheveningen beach are within walking distance. This makes By Friso a perfect hotel for a weekend getaway.

Hotel By Friso

By Friso is also just a little different from what you're used to in a hotel. It offers a trendy and intimate boutique hotel experience, with all the facilities to checkin using a digital key. Want to speak to someone? That’s possible at the reception between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Don’t expect a lobby, restaurant, or breakfast room. Instead, you’ll find plenty of charming coffee spots and bakeries nearby, especially around the Belgisch Park, a chic neighborhood with trendy restaurants and cafés.

Boutique Hotel By Friso The Hague

The hotel features 33 rooms in various sizes. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite—a 27m² studio equipped with a king-size bed (180x200 cm). And the room itself? Stunning! It’s been fully designed and decorated with great taste and attention to detail.

The rooms at By Friso follow a 'mid-century modern' style, with minimalist furniture and organic shapes inspired by the 1940s, '50s, and '60s. The interior is influenced by Dutch designers such as Friso Kramer, son of renowned Amsterdam School architect Piet Kramer.

There’s also a dining/work table, perfect if you need to get some work done. And what I always love: a cozy sitting area where you can sink into the couch, with or without a good book. You can start your morning with a cup of coffee or tea and a self-prepared breakfast, thanks to the in-room pantry equipped with a fridge and small kitchen setup.

We loved sitting out in the beautiful garden, enjoying the morning sun and our own little breakfast. Slow travel at its best.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM. If you're arriving by car, be sure to reserve a parking spot in advance.

Neighbourhood Hotel By Friso

The Stevinstraat in The Hague is full of charming spots. Start your day at Nog Een Bakkie?, a cozy coffee bar with a great vibe.

Westbroekpark – A lovely place for a picnic or a stroll through the rose garden. During our stay, Theater aan de Parade festival was taking place here. Theater aan de Parade is a performing arts festival that features a diverse program of theater, music, and dance in outdoor and indoor venues, celebrating creativity in a festive atmosphere with lots of foodtrucks and bars for drinks.

At Greens Restaurant in Westbroekpark, you can enjoy coffee, lunch, drinks, or a nice meal. Greens is a unique concept: an organic restaurant that cooks with vegetables grown in its own care garden. You can also rent an electric boat, such a fun activity!

Take a walk through the historic Clingendael Estate. The Japanese Garden is absolutely magical and definitely worth a visit.

Restaurant Café Walter Benedict is a charming, informal brasserie located on the Denneweg in The Hague, offering a French-inspired bistro menu and an extensive wine list.

Café Het POMPKE is a super cute spot for breakfast, coffee with a treat (try the chocolate sea salt pie!), or a tasty lunch. It’s located on the edge of De Nieuwe Scheveningse Bosjes, perfect for a short post-meal walk.

Café De Boshut is just across from Hotel By Friso. Also a great place for coffee, lunch, or drinks. Their breakfast and lunch menu features delicious sourdough bread options.

Café De Waterkant – Getting there is half the fun: you cross the canal at Haringkade using a hand-operated ferry to reach one of The Hague’s loveliest grass terraces. The terrace offers breakfast, coffee, lunch, drinks, and dinner. Bonus: you can also rent rowboats or try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).
