HoteldeBootel Den Bosch – A Unique Houseboat Stay
Sleeping on a houseboat in the heart of Den Bosch, with beautiful interiors, a sauna and views across the water? Sounds like the perfect weekend away to me! I love discovering unique places to stay, and HoteldeBootel at the Tramkade is definitely one of them. We stayed in Walrust, a spacious, beautifully designed houseboat for six, where every little detail has been thought of. From lovely vintage finds and incredibly comfortable Auping beds to a projector for your very own film night. And although staying on the water might sound like a summer thing, I discovered that HoteldeBootel is just as lovely for a cosy autumn or winter getaway.
HoteldeBootel Den Bosch – A Unique Stay at the Tramkade
HoteldeBootel is located in one of my favourite parts of Den Bosch: the Tramkade. Once an industrial site, this creative area is now home to old grain silos, colourful street art and some great places to eat and drink. The combination of the industrial surroundings and the beautifully designed houseboat makes this location extra special.
You're staying right opposite Bossche Brouwers, a lovely spot for drinks or dinner. And if you fancy exploring the historic city centre, it's just a short walk away. For me, it's the perfect combination of Den Bosch's creative side and the charm of its old town.

Our Stay at Walrust – A Houseboat for Six
We stayed in Walrust, a spacious and beautifully designed houseboat sleeping up to six people. The first thing that caught my eye was the interior: a lovely mix of vintage furniture and contemporary design pieces from brands such as HAY and Susan Bijl. Even the smallest details have been carefully considered, from the Marie-Stella-Maris toiletries to the coffee from De Koffiejongens. And that cheerful yellow bathroom? Definitely one of my favourite details!
The living room is wonderfully spacious and cosy, with a comfortable sofa, a lovely armchair to curl up in with a good book and large windows overlooking the water. Another brilliant feature is the projector with a pull-down screen, turning the living room into your very own little cinema. We had the loveliest film night here. It's exactly the sort of place where you don't mind staying in for the evening.
Cooking Together, Long Dinners and Slow Breakfasts
The fully equipped kitchen is another big plus. You'll find everything you need to prepare your own meals, including an oven, dishwasher and all the kitchen essentials. The large dining table is perfect for long dinners, drinks and board games with friends or family.
In the morning, you can easily make your own breakfast or pick up something delicious from CoffeeLab near Den Bosch railway station. They open at 7 am on weekdays and 8 am at weekends. Then head back to the houseboat for a leisurely breakfast overlooking the water.
And then there are the bedrooms! The downstairs bedrooms sit partly below the waterline, giving you the feeling of sleeping in a snug little cocoon. Look out of the window and you'll see little boats floating on the water right outside. Such a fun detail that really reminds you you're sleeping on a boat.
We slept incredibly well in a comfortable Auping bed with thick, crisp white bed linen. Exactly that lovely hotel feeling I adore. And despite being so close to the lively Tramkade, it's wonderfully peaceful on board.
Nachtponton – The Second Houseboat at HoteldeBootel
Besides Walrust, you can also stay in Nachtponton, HoteldeBootel's second floating holiday home at the Tramkade. This houseboat is all about enjoying a unique stay on the water, with stylish interiors, large windows and beautiful views across the River Dieze.
Nachtponton has three bedrooms and sleeps up to six people. There's a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely waterside terrace. And for a little extra relaxation, there's also a sauna and outdoor bath.
We stayed in Walrust, so I haven't personally experienced Nachtponton. But if you're looking for somewhere special to stay in Den Bosch with friends or family, it's definitely another lovely option to consider.
HoteldeBootel with a Sauna and Outdoor Bath
As if the beautiful interiors and unique location weren't enough, you can also enjoy a sauna and outdoor bath at HoteldeBootel. Particularly during the colder months, there's something lovely about warming up in the sauna after a day exploring Den Bosch.
The outdoor bath makes the experience even more special. Imagine sitting outside, surrounded by water and the industrial scenery of the Tramkade, enjoying a little peace and quiet. Definitely one of my favourite features of HoteldeBootel.
If you're booking HoteldeBootel for its wellness facilities, make sure to check which amenities are included with your chosen accommodation.
Why HoteldeBootel Is Perfect for an Autumn or Winter Getaway
What makes HoteldeBootel extra special to me is that it's just as lovely outside the summer months. While it's cold and grey outside, you're tucked away inside, warm and cosy, with beautiful views across the water. A good cup of coffee, a book in that lovely armchair or cooking and enjoying a long dinner together. And after a day exploring the city, there's nothing better than relaxing in the sauna or outdoor bath.
The houseboat is so beautifully designed and comfortable that you could happily spend an entire afternoon here. And if you do fancy heading out, the lovely cafés around the Tramkade and the historic city centre are just a short walk away. For me, it's the perfect combination of a city break and a relaxing weekend away.

Things to Do Near HoteldeBootel Den Bosch
One of the best things about HoteldeBootel is its location. You're right in the middle of the creative Tramkade area, with the historic city centre within easy walking distance. Here are a few of my favourite places nearby.
Drinks at Bossche Brouwers
Directly opposite HoteldeBootel you'll find Bossche Brouwers, one of my favourite spots at the Tramkade. It's a relaxed, lively place for a locally brewed beer, drinks or a bite to eat.
And the best part? After a lovely evening, you only have to walk a few steps back to your houseboat. It doesn't get much better than that!
Film and Breakfast at Verkadefabriek
Another local favourite is Verkadefabriek, a cultural hotspot where you can enjoy films, theatre and good food. I'm particularly fond of their Filmontbijt, a breakfast-and-film experience on selected Sunday mornings. You start the day with a lovely breakfast before settling in to watch a film. It's one of my favourite ways to spend a Sunday morning in Den Bosch. Check the Verkadefabriek website for upcoming dates, prices and screening times, and make sure to book in advance.
Discover the Tramkade
The Tramkade itself is well worth exploring. Wander past the old grain silos and colourful street art, discover the creative spaces housed in former industrial buildings and stop somewhere for a drink.
If you love places with a slightly alternative, industrial feel, this is one of the most interesting parts of Den Bosch.
