Hackney London

Hackney neighbourhood is East London at its most effortlessly cool and one of my favourite areas if you are after the hipster crowd. Lots of cool coffee bars with pastries and sourdough everything like Pophams. Converted warehouses, buzzing markets, low-key natural wine bars like Yuki London, and late-night cocktail bars like Hectors, it has every ingredient to be hip.

Restaurants Hackney

For the love of Hackney. So many nice restaurants that I would like to try still. Restaurants in Hackney are often housed in converted warehouses or tucked along quiet streets and archways, champion local, seasonal produce while embracing global influences.

Restaurant Uchi - This restaurant is recommended and definitely on my list for next time when I am in London. Uchi offers refined Japanese cuisine with a focus on sushi, sashimi, and seasonal small plates. The atmosphere is minimalist and intimate.

Restaurant Silo London is the UK’s first zero-waste restaurant, serving modern, sustainable dishes with ingredients sourced directly from producers. Located in Hackney Wick, it has a stylish, industrial feel that reflects its eco-conscious philosophy.

Restaurant Morito Hackney serves vibrant small plates inspired by Southern Spain, North Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean. The space is casual and lively, with bold colors and an open kitchen that adds energy to the room.

Restaurant Brat Hackney specializes in wood-fired cooking, with a menu that leans on Basque techniques and British ingredients. Set in a former brewery in London Fields, it has a rustic yet modern atmosphere with a warm, smoky buzz.

Restaurant Dalla Hackney is a cozy, new Italian neighbourhood spot offering seasonal, regional Italian fare made with simple, high-quality ingredients. The vibe is friendly and relaxed, ideal for a casual yet thoughtful dining experience.

Restaurant Elliots Hackney is a bar, restaurant, and natural wine store offering rustic European-inspired plates made with local produce. The setting is informal and bustling, with communal seating and a focus on good wine and conversation. We had a lovely dinner at the bar.

Restaurant & Winebar Sesta Hackney is a neighbourhood wine bar and restaurant featuring seasonal European cooking and a carefully curated natural wine list. The space is intimate and welcoming, with a laid-back elegance perfect for slow dining.

Cafe Cecilia offers simple, expertly prepared dishes with Irish and European influences, often highlighting seasonal British produce. Located by the canal in Hackney, it has a calm, stylish atmosphere that balances neighborhood charm with culinary finesse.

Winebar Hackney

Yuki Bar Hackney London - a beautiful natural wine bar in London nestled beneath the railway arches. Food isn't strictly Japanese, but has strong Japanese influence.  Yuki offers a curated selection of rare natural wines paired with a daily-changing menu of Japanese and European-inspired small plates. Cosy and initimated setting which can only accomodate around 20 guests.

Hector's London - An intimate spot nestled in the heart of De Beauvoir, Hackney. This cute little neighbourhood winebar has the hip crowd is drawn to it for its effortlessly cool vibe. We loved our evening here. White Port and Gin is my new summer drink of 2025.

Coffee Hackney

Simmos Coffee the café blends minimal, light-hearted design with seriously good coffee from some of the best roasters in the UK and Europe.

Bakeries Hackney

Bakery 4 Hackney is a neighbourhood favourite known for its sourdough, pastries, and a perfect blend of artisanal craftsmanship with a welcoming, laid-back vibe.

EK Bakery Hackney serves up beautifully crafted loaves and pastries, with a focus on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients, offering a modern yet rustic taste of Hackney’s bakery scene.

Pophams Bakery with locations in Islington, London Fields, and Victoria Park, is an artisanal bakery known for its expertly crafted pastries, sourdough, and refined brunch menu, all served in a stylish, airy setting.

Things To Do in Hackney

Visit the Young V&A a dynamic museum dedicated to inspiring creativity in children and young people, with interactive exhibitions and hands-on activities. It’s a fun and educational stop for families and anyone interested in design, art, and culture. Thank for the tip Jen!

Stroll through Victoria Park One of London’s oldest and most beloved green spaces, Victoria Park offers 86 acres of lush lawns, scenic lakes, and tree-lined paths perfect for picnics, jogging, or just soaking up the local atmosphere. Lovely for an afternoon stoll or when you cycle from or through London City along the Towpath.

Explore Broadway Market and London Fields. Broadway Market is probably one of my favourite markets in London where you can browse local produce, vintage treasures, and street food. The Cat & Mutton pub located on Broadway Market itself offers a quirky, fun atmosphere, great for drinks. Head to nearby London Fields for a picnic, watching a game of cricket, or taking a dip in the outdoor Lido.
