A stay at cabin Thompson Lodge

The Thompson Lodge Cabin is located in the woods of Twain Harte, California, USA. Thompson Lodge is only a two and a half hour drive from the San Francisco Bay area and close to Yosemite National Park. This A-frame cabin is the perfect place for a mini road trip and weekend getaway with friends and family.

The cabin can host up to six guests. Upstairs you'll find the master bedroom with a king bed and a smaller bed room with two twin sized beds. Downstairs is another bedroom with a queen size bed. There are also two separate bathrooms. The cabin has all the facilities you need. We really enjoyed the board games and the barbecue outside on the deck. There is also a TV with all online channels (including Netflix). Only wondering why you need it if you stay in such beautiful surroundings.

Local things to do near Thompson Lodge

Visit Yosemite National Park - Only a ninety minute drive to the famous Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, on the east side of California. If you only have one day visit the park's crown jewel Yosemite Valley. Start at Yosemite Village where you'll find the information center and the museum. From here you can do various waterfall hikes. We walked the smaller trail to the lower Yosemite waterfall. The highlight of the Yosemite Valley is the Tunnel View for the classic photo view of famous El Capitan and the Bridalveil Fall rising from Yosemite Valley, with Half Dome in the background.

Walk the Westside Trail - This trails is part of a proposed State Wide Trail Corridor system and the view form this trail is absolutely amazing. In the trail you'll find the train tracks from yesteryear. We walked about 4 miles one way and back.

Explore Columbia State Historic Park - A throwback to the Gold Rush mining era with this well preserved town. A little bit touristy but great fun if you want to learn more about Gold country.
