We stayed at Hotel Monastère Maastricht in a Comfort Room and particularly liked the combination of the historic building and elegant interiors.

My experience at Hotel Monastère Maastricht
During my stay at Hotel Monastère Maastricht, we stayed in a Comfort Room. What immediately appealed to me was the hotel's elegant, French-inspired interior. Warm colours, golden velvet curtains and classical details give the hotel a sophisticated yet cosy atmosphere.
Our room was comfortable, with particularly lovely beds and tea and coffee-making facilities. After a day exploring Maastricht, it was a lovely place to return to.
What I especially liked about Hotel Monastère was the combination of its historic character and contemporary boutique hotel feel. It has a more traditional and elegant atmosphere than some of Maastricht's modern design hotels, making it a lovely choice if you appreciate characterful interiors.

Hotel Monastère is located in the centre of Maastricht. The character of the old building has been combined with elegant contemporary interiors, creating a boutique hotel with a distinctly French feel.
Throughout the hotel, you'll find classical architectural details alongside modern furniture, warm colours and rich fabrics. The result feels more Parisian townhouse than traditional city hotel.
With just over 50 rooms, Hotel Monastère is relatively intimate. For me, it is the combination of the characterful building, the French-inspired interiors and central location that makes the hotel stand out.

Hotel Monastère has just over 50 rooms and suites, combining the historic character of the building with contemporary comforts. There are several room categories, ranging from smaller double rooms to larger rooms suitable for families and groups.
We stayed in a Comfort Room, which I found a good choice for a weekend in Maastricht. The beds were particularly comfortable and having tea and coffee-making facilities in the room was a welcome extra.
If you are choosing between room types, I would look at how much time you expect to spend at the hotel. For a short city break, our Comfort Room had everything we needed.
My tip: if you're a light sleeper, I would recommend asking for a room at the back of the hotel. Our room faced the street and we could hear cars and lorries passing by in the early hours of the morning.

The location is ideal for exploring Maastricht on foot. The Vrijthof, independent boutiques, cafés, restaurants and many of the city's historic sights are all within walking distance.
One of the things I love about staying in central Maastricht is that you can simply step outside your hotel and start exploring. From Hotel Monastère, it is easy to wander through the old streets, stop for coffee or lunch and discover some of the city's smaller shops along the way.

With so many restaurants within walking distance, I would still make time to explore Maastricht's food scene during your stay, but having Café Louis at the hotel is a nice extra.

One option is Q-Park Bassin, which is within walking distance of the hotel. I recommend checking the latest parking rates and availability before travelling, as prices can change.
If you are travelling by train, Maastricht Central Station is around a 20-minute walk from the hotel. You can also take a bus or taxi from the station.
