Seashore Shepherds Hut Lake District

Seashore Shepherds Hut is one of these locations that you are happy to stumble across when browsing for accommodation online. At least we thought so. Located in Aldingham, near Ulverston, this charming Shepherd's hut is your perfect location to explore the Lake District.

From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed by Caroline and John. Homemade lemon drizzle cake and, amongst other things fresh eggs and milk are waiting for you. Caroline and John have been welcoming guests since October 2021 and everything is still very new. You can clearly feel they have put a lot of time and effort in decorating the cosy hut with lots of bric-a-brac and china vintage from the charity shop (we loved it!).

Inside the hut there is a open-plan living area with a cosy double bed which can sleep up to two guests. Next to the bed is a cosy armchair and a (folding) dining table. There is also a tiny kitchenette and a bathroom with shower and toilet. There's is even smart TV and WiFi, which, I promise you, you don't really need.

Outside, you have private access to the lawn with a fire pit and seating for two. The Seashore Shepperd's Hut, you guessed it, overlooks the beautiful Morecambe Bay and has the most spectacular sea views on this somewhat secluded beach.

Good to know, the owners John and Caroline run an adorable hot food takeaway and cook delicious locally sourced brisket burgers, sausage burgers, bacon buns, tea, coffees, Lakes ice cream, homemade cake and their famous ā€œproper chipsā€.

Seashore Shepherds Hut is truly the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle from city life, spend time with a loved one and enjoy the sea, wildlife and outdoors of Cumbria and the Lake District.

Ulverston Lake, District

The Seashore Shepperd's Hut is six miles away from Ulverston. We had never heard of Ulverston before but were very surprised by this historic traditional market town. Think cobbled streets and plenty of independent, artisan shops, café’s, and pubs. Little did we know that it is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel with even a museum to visit if you like.

The southern Lake District is on your doorstep, with Lake Windermere only 45 minutes away. It is also worth visiting Coniston and climbing The Old Man of Coniston Circular walk via Brown Pike, Buck Pike and Dow Crag. The Old Man of Coniston is a classic Lake District walk. Expect a lot of walkers. We did the 13 miles walk and absolutely loved the amazing view from the top.
